Sometimes it takes Him a while...

Andy started a 3-part series this weekend titled He's Still* Got the Whole World in His Hands. It's a timely series given the uncertainty surrounding us. "Knowing that God is still active during uncertain times allows us to maintain hope and faith, and keeps us from despair" (NP). He closed Part 1 by sharing a conversation he had with Rev. Otis Moss at the National Prayer Service. Towards the end of the conversation, Rev. Moss -- an African-American who grew up orphaned in Middle Georgia during the days of racial segregation -- paused, gazed off into the distance, and then recited the first half of Romans 8:28, "And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love Him." adding, "And sometimes it takes Him a while."

Can you maintain your faith in God when there's absolutely no evidence of His activity in your life? According to Andy, your answer to that question will determine your response to the uncertainty in your life.

Music For A Cause

Emily bought CompassionArt's debut album for me for Valentine's Day. For those of you who aren't familiar, "CompassionArt is a charity that joins the dots between art and poverty. It raises money to help breath life into the poorest communities, restoring hope and igniting justice." 100% of the proceeds go to CompassionArt nominated charities (i.e. Hope Rwanda, Shaohannah's Hope, Watoto, etc.). I highly recommend checking it out.

Happy Valentine's Day

While you demonstrate your love for your significant other this Valentine's Day, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the greatest demonstration of love ever -- the cross.

What a game!

We had quite the Super Bowl party last night. Maddie's been excited for weeks.

She's had her juju (i.e. jersey) for over a week and has slept in it almost every night.

To donate or not to donate? Why's it even a question?

My uncle recently received the news that he needed a heart transplant and just this week Fox & Friends did a piece on organ donation. Some facts from the National Kidney Foundation include:
  • Over 89,000 U.S. patients are currently waiting organ transplant and nearly 4,000 new patients are added to the waiting list each month.
  • Every day, 17 people die while waiting for a transplant of a vital organ, such as a heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, lung or bone marrow.
  • An estimated 12,000 people who die each year meet the criteria for organ donation, but less than half of that number become actual organ donors.

I understand donating an organ is a personal choice; but, why wouldn't you? And for those of you who are organ donors, I encourage you to be good stewards of the organs with which God has blessed you.
